You never know when an ordinary moment might turn into something life changing. You just have to be open to it, leading with a giver's heart.
It was the summer of 2004 when I ran into an old friend at a high school reunion. We had lost contact over the years, but after catching up, she told me she had been on the transplant list for four years, waiting for a kidney. I went home that night, and the conversation stuck with me. How did I not know? Why hadn’t I stayed in touch? It weighed on me until I finally reached out and asked how I could get tested. It started with a simple blood test on August 26, and a few weeks later, I found out I was a match.
From there, things moved quickly. I had to talk with my family, go through psychological evaluations, and undergo medical testing. The doctors and social workers wanted to make sure I understood the risks, that I wasn’t being pressured, and that I wasn’t doing this for the wrong reasons. But for me, the answer was always simple: I wanted to help my friend.
On February 2, 2005, the transplant took place, and it was a success. We have talked every day since then—sometimes for just five minutes, sometimes for an hour and a half. If I had to do it all over again, I would—even for a stranger. There aren’t many times in life when you get the chance to truly change someone’s life. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, and I’m grateful I listened to that feeling that told me to reach out.
That feeling—the pull to help someone when the opportunity presents itself—is something I carry with me every day. And in many ways, that’s exactly why I love what I do in real estate. Every day, I have the chance to make someone’s life a little better. It’s not just about buying or selling houses—it’s about helping people navigate some of the biggest transitions in their lives. Whether it’s a first-time homebuyer overwhelmed by the process, a growing family searching for more space, or someone saying goodbye to a home filled with memories, I get to be there for them. I help guide them through the stress, the excitement, and sometimes the heartache. And when I see the joy on their faces when they finally find the right place, it reminds me why I do this.
Helping others has always been a part of who I am, whether through church, community service, or simply being there when someone needs a hand. My parents gave me a great example to live by. They lent money without expecting it back, supported friends and family in tough times, and always put others before themselves. After they passed, I found thank-you notes and letters from people they had helped—things they never even mentioned. Their quiet generosity shaped how I see the world.
To honor their giving hearts, I stay involved in the community through the Moorhead Business Association, the Economic Development Authority, the Women's Care Center, and my active participation in my church. I strive to find the hidden opportunities in every day to make a positive impact on others.
One of the greatest gifts real estate has given me is the flexibility to be present for my family. Spending time with my kids and grandkids is what matters most to me. We have a lake house, and nothing makes me happier than seeing my grandkids run around outside, making memories. I love being present and giving them moments they’ll hold onto long after I’m gone—the same way my parents did for me.
In real estate, my goal is to make the entire process as smooth and stress-free as possible. I’ve built strong relationships with inspectors, handymen, electricians, and other professionals so my clients always have reliable resources at their fingertips. I am honored to serve as the real estate agent for the Cass Clay Community Land Trust, developing an even deeper understanding and appreciation for this area and how I can best serve my clients. Whether it’s explaining an inspection report in a way that makes sense, recommending a trusted contractor, or answering a late-night call, I make sure my clients feel supported every step of the way.
Every client I work with has different goals, different preferences, and different levels of experience. Some prefer a straightforward, efficient process, while others need more time to learn, feel supported, and navigate emotions. I pride myself on meeting you where you are and tailoring the entire experience to your needs. I provide clear communication, a high attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring you feel confident in your decisions. Even when the transaction is over, I remain a trusted resource as your REALTOR® for life, here for anything you may need!
Sincerely,
